Bio

William Watts is a Coast Salish Master Carver from the Squamish Nation. William learned the Traditional ways of Carving from his Uncles and Cousins of the Squamish Nation including John Charles August, Floyd Joseph, and many other talented Artists.
William has been carving for over 40 years and specializes in many different mediums including wood carving, bronzing, prints, and original paintings.
William has designed and created many Totem Poles including the Totem Pole at Carson Graham School in North Vancouver and commissioned for many Totem Poles for private collectors.
William specializes in creating Totem Poles, masks, bowls, plaques, and special custom orders. William can produce artworks that combine contemporary modern art with traditional native designs. For example I was commissioned to carve a yellow cedar mermaid for a private collector in Maple Ridge BC.
In addition, William can design, create logos and themes for any corporate event, workshop or function. I designed a salmon logo for the Salmon Society and carved a yellow cedar greyhound for the Greyhound Corporation in Vancouver, BC.
All of William artworks are created with unique designs. William uses his life experiences and challenges when he is creating his masterpiece and uses these influences to share the stories behind each piece. His artwork has been sold all across B.C. and international buyer including Austrai, Brazil, London, and China.
