Tansi ! ( Hello) This is my Spirit Mask called the Spirit Warrior
For many generations, our Ancestors have carved out the faces of their dead relatives.
Believing their spirit(s) would protect them from harm and to bring them strength, courage
and wisdom with good hunting skills to provide for their families. If someone in the family
was ill, a spirit mask was made to help heal them... keeping away the evil spirits.
These masks were carved out of clay, wood or stone.
Some of these masks are called the shape-shifters. One side human the other an animal.
Combined together comes the protector.
Many of us have always had a longing to be a shape-shifter of being an animal of our
choosing.
Example:
Growing up as children we would act out an animals walk and talk.
We would pretend we were that animal.
Whether it be a Bear and you visualize it's feelings, the walking and growling loudly from its
voice...impersonating the power of it's size.
We would howl like a Wolf standing strong, protecting its family, trying to keep everyone in
order.
Camouflaging ourselves as a Lynx, Tiger,Cougar ( Mountian Lion), not wanting to be seen but
it is quiet, preparing for its next kill, needing to survive to feed it's family.
Acting out these animals actions and vibrations teaches us how to survive in this daily way of
life. These are the connections to the Animals Totems which we represent.
These Spirit Masks were blessed with love and light from the Great Spirit who protects the
families in their home from harm.
NOTE: The black hair on the items is real bear hair. All items are made of clay with real
natural fur, feathers and glass beads. My Elders taught me to respect all living and dead
animals. Their spirits carry on the healing medicines for us to protect and guide us on our
spiritual path.
No animal was killed for the purpose to make these items. All my Relations!
