Huge Black Wolf seen in the Rancheria Mountain Range of Southeast Yukon. My younger brother and I were out in one of the mountains, so I could take photos of wildlife and came upon this wolf eating something about a half mile away. Fall comes early in the north and I took this during the last week of August 2015 prior to my leaving to attend classes at the University of British Columbia studying Archaeology.
I love taking pictures of bears as well and I do have respect for them. I don't tell anyone whether on facebook or other social media about where I saw them, because people use this information for their advantage to go out and hunt them down. I spend less than five minutes taking photos and have gotten as close forty feet away, but I usually make sure I keep the bears fearful of humans by keeping them nervous for their own good.
I spotted these caribou on the Rancheria River in Southeast Yukon on Kaska Traditional Territory. The caribou come down off the mountains during the long winters in search of available food source, since the snow is not very deep for them to access it under the snow. I am also love showing off my pictures. There are many like this that I love displaying.
